Concurrent with the 6.0.0 release, the Adapt It team has also made version 5.2.5 available in the downloads section of the Adapt It website here: link.

The 5.2.5 release is is a bug fix update, intended as the official transition version for users upgrading from any previous version to Adapt It version 6.0.0. The main feature of version 5.2.5 is its ability to read and convert the new xml data format used by Adapt It version 6.0.0 and future versions. Version 5.2.5 also contains additional bug fixes that have been discovered and back ported from version 6.0.0.

Recommendations:

  • If you have never used Adapt It before, you should install version 6.0.0.
  • If you are upgrading, you should install version 5.2.5 before installing 6.0.0.

Bug fixes in 5.2.5

  • Fixed a bug that would cause book folder mode to switch OFF if the user clicked on the “< Back” button in the Start Working Wizard.
  • Fixed the command-line option -frm which had been broken for some time. The -frm option allows Adapt It to be started and forced to stay in
“reviewing” mode. Some want this options for use during the creation of back back translation texts.
  • Interlinear Exports to RTF have now been revised to be more compatible with OpenOffice and LibreOffice.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if the Preferences… dialog is called after Cancel of the File Dialog when selecting a new document for
    input into Adapt It.
  • If an administrator sets up a custom work folder Adapt It now asks the administrator whether the custom work folder is to be locked in for permanent use. Previously the administrator would have to explicitly select the “Lock Custom Location” item on the Administrator menu to make the change permanent.
  • If the user Cancels from the dialog used to set up a custom work folder, any loaded project and document now stays open. Previously the
application would close the project and document even if the user cancelled from the dialog.
  • Fixed the annoyance of sometimes having to click twice on the Cancel button of the Choose Translation dialog.
  • The list of projects in the Project Page of the Start Working wizard is now sorted which provides a better appearance of the project list in the Linux version.
  • Fixes a screen refresh problem on the Mac which occurred in conjunction with switching the layout between RTL and LTR.
  • Changed the “Exit” menu label to “Quit” for the Mac version.
  • Changed the way Adapt It finds any installed version of the SIL Encoding Converters’ ECDriver.dll file.

Enjoy!

Adapt It WX version 5.2.4 is now available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.

Feature changes and new features in 5.2.4

Version 5.2.4 is a bug fix plus a transition version that
should be installed before upgrading to the next major
version of Adapt It (6.0.0) which is planned for released in
March 2011. Aside from a few bug fixes, the main enhancement
found in version 5.2.4 is its ability to read and convert the
new XML data format that is coming in Adapt It version 6.0.0.

Bug fixes in 5.2.4

  • Attempting to open free translation mode when the document
was only a line or two in length, crashed the application.
  • Editing the source text crashed the application if the edit
was done on the text stored at a single pile of the display.
  • If a placeholder was within a selection intended for a
retranslation operation, the placeholder was supposed to be
silently removed after the data it contained was mined – but
instead the application would crash. This has now been fixed.
  • In certain situations the application could crash when
editing the source text and clicking on the navigation buttons
to move through the editing process or when canceling the
    process.
  • Making a note, the note icon and wedge icon did not appear on
closure of the dialog, until the user caused the screen to be
    refreshed.

Adapt It version 5.2.4 will be the last release in the 5.x.x
series. Version 6.0.0 has been in development for the past 12
months and is nearing completion for release around March 2011.
It will introduce a number of new features designed for
program administrators, and LIFT export and import options.
