Since Adapt It 5.2., Adapt It has provided an administration capability to manage various aspects of an Adapt It project such as:
- Defining a custom work location
- Using an Adapt It dialog to locate and store input and output files
- Defining the destination for exported files
- Simplify the application interface by hiding menu items unneeded by a user for her current work goals.
This capability is defined on the Administrator Menu. This menu is password protected and is not visible until an authorized password is entered. (See note below)
To display the Administrator Menu, you must do the following steps.
- Select the Preferences option in the Edit menu.
- Select the View tab in the Preferences dialog.
- Check the Show Administrator Menu check box.
- Enter the password into the Type Administrator Password input box and press OK twice.
Once the Administrator Menu is visible, you can establish your own password by selecting the Set Password… option. This opens the Type A Password input box. You can type a password into the text box and press OK to save this password.
There are several things that you need to know about the process of setting a new password:
- Adapt It will display your entry as you type it and not conceal it with “ • ” or ” * “.
- You need to type at least 5 characters.
- If you open this input box again, Adapt It does not show the current password. In the next release of Adapt It, the current password will be shown.
- If you type in a new password, it replaces the current password if any. Adapt It maintains only one password for an Adapt It project.
- If you press OK and no password is in the textbox, Adapt It erases any current password. Thus, only the default password will allow you to open the Administrator menu.
- To hide the Administrator menu, uncheck the check box on the View tab.
Note: If you need to have the default password, review the discussion of the Administrator menu in Adapt It Reference. Adapt It Reference is packaged with the executable files in the Program Files folder.
